Daughter, Sister, Wife, Friend, Professional Nanny and, now Newborn Care Specialist, Postpartum Doula and Infant Care Feeding Specialist are some of the many hats I wear - in no particular order - on any given day. And while my own family has been, and continues to be, a very important influence in my life, I have been equally shaped by the wonderful families that I have been welcomed into throughout my 25-year career. In fact, I prefer to distinguish my career as a nanny/newborn care specialist (NCS) from that of a job, because being a nanny and NCS is not just what I do to make a living, it is part of who I am. I have been afforded wonderful and unique opportunities with the families for whom I have worked. Yet, while I am grateful for the experiences I have been given, I most appreciate that I am able to share my experience with other families.
Over the years, I have been so fortunate to have partnered with some amazing parents to care for some very extraordinary children. Each and every child is brimming with potential and, at the very same time, is exceptional just the way he or she is! This is an understanding that guides my approach and belief in nurturing every aspect of a child’s life. I believe in helping children learn and grow in both formal and informal ways. Every experience and every interaction is an opportunity. Creating opportunities for healthy and positive experiences in which a child feels safe and loved is something I am passionate about. I work to ensure that children feel secure in their immediate environments and in the world around them by providing a careful balance of support and independence, all while helping build self-esteem and responsibility in age-appropriate ways. A strong foundation of love, support, and encouragement promotes the kind of confidence, happiness, and enthusiasm that every child deserves.
Children are, of course, part of a bigger family system and I also appreciate and respect the unique dynamics that characterize the style and beliefs of every family with whom I work. I support and value the integrity of family and consider it an honor to collaborate with parents to love and nurture their children in unconditional ways, while also maintaining a professional level of discretion with regard to family matters. A parent’s trust is something I have never taken for granted, as it is certainly a necessary component of a happy and successful relationship of any nature. I have enjoyed several long-term commitments in my career as a loyal and dependable professional nanny.
